In my Asian household, gochujang is ALWAYS available. So one night when I ran out of ingredients, I whipped this pasta dinner up in just 15 minutes and was amazed by the results. Gochujang bacon pasta has the creamy flavors of a vodka sauce, and the texture of a carbonara without the dairy. I mean who can resist?!! Here’s how to make it ⬇⬇⬇
Ingredients
1 shallot diced
2-3 garlic cloves, diced
4 slices of bacon, sliced into 1 inch pieces
1/4 cup white wine
1.5 tbsp of Gochujang
1/4 cup oat milk or heavy cream
Pinch of salt
Two servings of pasta
Save 1/4 cup pasta water
1 tbsp butter
Pepper, Parmesan, and parsley to serve
Instructions
Cook the bacon until it’s to the crisp level of your liking
In the meantime cook the pasta according to package instructions
Remove bacon from the pan and drain the oil, leaving a little bit for the shallot and garlic
Cook the shallot and garlic till translucent, then deglaze with white wine and add in Gochujang and a pinch of salt
Stir the gochujang paste into the wine and when it’s starting to thicken again, slowly stream in the oat milk
Stir well and then toss in the cooked pasta with 1/4 cup of pasta water
Add the butter, some Parmesan, and the bacon as your tossing the pasta
Serve with more bacon crumbles, Parmesan, and parsley
