In traditional Chinese medicine, pomelo is considered to have a number of potential health benefits. It is thought to be a natural remedy for a variety of ailments, including indigestion, constipation, respiratory problems, and dull skin.

Pomelo is also believed to have immune-boosting properties and is sometimes used to treat colds and flu. In addition, it is thought to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, which may be beneficial for maintaining overall health and well-being!

Because pomelos are also in season during the winter, this 3 ingredient tea is the perfect way to celebrate the fruit at its seasonal best. Here’s how to make it!

Instructions

  1. Peel about 1/2 the pomelo (1) flesh and use a palm size amount of pomelo peel

  2. Skin the pomelo (1), making sure to remove as much of the white thick pith as possible, then slice into thin strips

  3. Drop the skin into boiling water and blanch for 5 mins, then repeat 3 times to remove as much of the bitterness as possible

  4. For the fruit flesh, peel it out of its casing and make sure to remove as much of the white skin as possible, which makes the whole thing very bitter

  5. Add the flesh and skin into a pot with the sugar (4 Tbsp) and water (1 cup) and bring to a boil

  6. Reduce over the course of ~20-30 mins until most of the water is gone and the mixture has turned into a thick paste

  7. Take off the heat, then stir in the honey (¼ cup)

  8. Place into a jar for safe keeping and it’s ready to use!

You can keep the tea in the fridge for up to 2 weeks — just make sure to smell and check for any bacterial growth
